The Tennessee Consumer Protection Act applies to businesses within the state and presently prohibits 44 deceptive or unfair business acts such as price gouging, phishing, false advertising, discriminatory practices, false defamation of a competitor's products or services.

The Tennessee Human Rights Act applies to organizations with 8 or more employees, and prohibits employment discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, or disability.
